Some of the things we do as North Oyster Bay Baymen are pretty interesting and fun for all. We go to schools, family day events, boat shows, Birthday party’s etc.. and teach the Children about what lives in our local waters and that everything should be respected and protected. We bring a kiddie pool and turn it into a touch tank for the kids. we always bring a few eels, clams, oysters, crabs, lobster, and anything else that can be locally collected to give them a hands on experience. It helps show them they don’t have to be afraid if they run into a horshoe or spider crab while they are playing at the beach or out on a boat. They absolutely love it and it’s so rewarding for us as Baymen to be able to teach these kids stuff they will never learn in everyday classes.
